Our History

A few short years ago, a group of dog lovers came together with one goal: create an off-leash dog park in Kalispell, Montana. Since then, we’ve worked with local stakeholders to identify land, increase public awareness, and generate funds. On March 20, 2017, the City Council of Kalispell voted to make 3.5 acres of Begg Park (in south Kalispell off Airport Road) our first dog park. The city is providing $40,000 for fencing and drainage and Paws to Play is contributing another $10,000 to get things started. But a great dog park needs more than a fence! It’s the job of Paws to Play to add amenities to make this the best possible dog park for our community! This means raising:

  • $60,000 for an ADA-compliant path
  • $5,200 for benches
  • $2,000 for waste disposal stations
  • $1,800 for garbage cans
  • $4,100 for a doggy (and human!) water station
  • $10,000 for agility course features

Additional funds will be needed to add restrooms ($80K+), solar lights, a shade structure, a dog wash station, and other features.

Paws to Play will work with the Parks and Recreation Department to phase in amenities over time, as funding allows. Your sponsorship will allow us to purchase and install safe, reliable equipment for use by all park visitors.

100% of the money we collect goes toward developing and maintaining the park. We hope you will join us in making Begg Dog Park a park everyone can be proud of! Thank you!
